AVENTURINE (stone of true love and intuition)
Aventurine
Deposits: China, USA, Austria, Australia, Brazil, Norway, Chile, India Description: Aventurine is a translucent to opaque microcrystalline quartz containing mica, which gives it a silvery sheen, while hematite gives it a reddish or grey sheen. Aventurine usually comes in green, brown, yellow, red and even blue. It is often confused with amazonite, jade or even chalcedony when its colouring is creamy enough. The story behind its name is interesting: in the 18th century, workers at a Venetian glass factory accidentally noticed copper shavings that had fallen into the molten glass, forming a beautiful sparkling glass. As aventurine closely resembled this glass, it got its name (“ventura”, meaning “by chance”). Applications: It helps you make decisions with your heart, stimulates creative inspiration and gives you the courage to live authentically. This stone comforts, balances and supports the emotions. Pure green aventurine has strong healing energy; many believe it calms a troubled spirit and brings inner peace and tranquillity. Blue aventurine helps release toxins from the body and gives strength to those suffering from illness. Green aventurine is used successfully in psychotherapy and in treating heart and lung conditions. It increases muscle flexibility and improves eyesight. Peach-coloured aventurine benefits the lungs, heart, adrenal glands and genitourinary system. Red aventurine has the power to heal the reproductive system. For the stone to have an effect, it is recommended to wear it for a long time. In acute illness you can tape a piece of the stone to the affected area. Cleanse the stone at least once a month and leave it to recharge in the sun.
Planet: Mercury
Zodiac sign: mostly Cancer, suitable for Taurus and Sagittarius
CARNELIAN (Sard) – Mineral of happiness and love
Carnelian
Deposits: Brazil, Uruguay, India, Madagascar; in Bulgaria – the Eastern Rhodopes. It was also known and valued in ancient Greece. Alternative medicine has an entire branch devoted to its healing and magical properties. During the Second World War, Russian soldiers in Siberian military hospitals were treated with carnelian using the methods of Professor Evgenia Badigina, who discovered its miraculous properties in 1935, later confirmed by scientific research. It healed wounds, swellings and tumours and – incredible but true – successfully replaced the antibiotics missing in field hospitals.
Description: Carnelian is an orange, bright yellow and red variety of chalcedony; it can also be green and white.
Uses: One of the favourite stones of the ancient Egyptians, symbolising the power of the supreme god Ra – the Sun god. They wore it constantly on their hands, believing it brought vitality and renewal while protecting them from anger, envy and the evil eye. It is mentioned several times in the Egyptian “Book of the Dead” and was placed in tombs to protect the souls of the dead on their journey to the afterlife. It has a very positive effect on digestion and is highly recommended for pregnant women with lower abdominal pain – simply place it on the pubic bone for about 20 minutes every day. This stone helps purify the blood and provides more physical energy. It improves concentration and helps a person become indifferent to external irritation, especially to what others think or say about us. It increases self-esteem and promotes rapid career success. A little-known fact is that carnelian has very weak radioactive properties, in doses that are healing for the human body. This truly miraculous stone can be used as a home remedy, but it must first be warmed (with hot water, a hair dryer or another convenient means) to 40–50 degrees for 5–7 minutes and then placed on the painful area. 8 to 10 sessions are needed for an effect. Warm carnelian placed on wounds quickly reduces inflammation and ulcers, and wounds heal fast. Carnelian is also used for sepsis, gangrene, toothache, anaemia, poor eyesight, cardiovascular diseases and diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, liver and musculoskeletal system.
Celestial body: The Sun Zodiac sign: Carnelian is the stone of Taurus, but it also inspires a strong zest for life in those born under Virgo, Gemini and Aries.

Serpentine
Serpentine – Stone of the Virgin
Deposits: China, India, Italy, Bulgaria (Rila and the Eastern Rhodopes); in Russia it is mined in the Urals, and also in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Tajikistan, England, Hungary, Germany, New Zealand, the USA and Sweden.
Description: Serpentine gets its name from the Latin word “serpens” – snake. Its colour ranges from greenish-yellow to dark green with characteristic spots of various colours that make the stone resemble snakeskin.
Applications: Serpentine has a beneficial effect on gastrointestinal complaints, kidney diseases and menstrual problems. It calms the nervous system, stabilises blood pressure and is also used for colds. Serpentine is an excellent mineral for cellular regeneration and improves the absorption of magnesium and calcium. Since Sumerian times it has been widely used to promote fertility, hence its name “Stone of the Virgin”. It is also called the “apothecary's stone” because it can enhance the effect of medicines prepared in vessels made from it. It can be placed directly on the affected organ or area.
Planet: Mercury Zodiac sign: Virgo, Capricorn

Rhodonite
RHODONITE – Stone of calm
Deposits: India, USA, Australia, Japan, New Zealand, Brazil, Colombia and others. Description: Rhodonite is a silicate which closely resembles rose quartz. It is pink or pinkish-red, but its variety with black lines is far more popular. The word rhodonite comes from the Greek “rhodon”, meaning rose. In ancient times rhodonite was given to travellers as a protective stone. It prevents the heart rate from suddenly speeding up.
Applications: Reducing stress and calming the mind, rhodonite relieves physical and emotional trauma. It boosts self-esteem, confidence and the energy levels of mind and body, and helps you feel the healing power of forgiveness. Rhodonite strengthens the immune system and supports the heart. It helps the nervous system, the endocrine system (thyroid and pituitary gland) and the body's reflexes. Victims of sudden heart attacks or serious illnesses may recover faster if they wear the stone during recovery. Healers who use psychic and intuitive energy sources will find rhodonite a very good stone – it protects you from being hurt or permanently damaged by the harmful energies you work with. This stone dispels feelings of inferiority and protects against negativity; it is known as the “rescue stone”. Rhodonite closes your psychic centres so that you feel calmer. If you think you have too many unwanted visitors, whether physical or astral, this is the stone that will help you deal with them. Celestial body: The Sun Zodiac sign: Taurus

Jasper
JASPER (powerful guardian, stone of happiness)
Deposits: In northern and southern Asia, central Europe and North Africa. In Bulgaria there are deposits in the Eastern Rhodopes.
Description: The name jasper comes from the Greek phrase for “spotted stone”. It belongs to the chalcedony group. Jasper is decorative and opaque, containing fine grains of chalcedony, microcrystalline quartz and other minerals that give it its different shades. It occurs in almost every colour. Many fossils of ancient trees or organisms are also jasper, which over millions of years has replaced the organic tissue, traces of which remain visible in its structure.
Uses: Jasper symbolises beauty, wealth and elegance. It is considered a talisman for explorers, scientists and all who love making new discoveries and strive for knowledge. Jasper is a magical stone, used long before other precious and semi-precious stones. Its unique quality is that it completely removes negative influences on its owner, red jasper being the strongest in this respect. It guards against danger and protects from misfortune. In ancient times people believed that if an event foretold future misfortune – for example, if a glass cracked – one should hold jasper in the palms and ask it to protect all members of the family.
Planet: Mars Zodiac sign: Aries

Bloodstone
BLOODSTONE (HELIOTROPE) (blood stone – brings longevity, fame and money)
Deposits: India is the main source, but bloodstone is also mined in Australia, Brazil, China, Russia and the USA.
Description: The name heliotrope comes from a Greek phrase meaning “turning towards the sun”. Bloodstone is green with bright red spots caused by iron oxide impurities and is also known as “blood jasper”. Applications: The ancient Greeks and Romans wore bloodstone for endurance, and those in power used it to increase their popularity. Later, the Gnostics believed the stone brought longevity and wealth. Bloodstone has been used for magical purposes for at least 3,000 years. In ancient Babylon it was used to defeat enemies; the Egyptians used it to open doors and bring down stone walls. Its best-known use is to stop bleeding, often as first aid for wounded soldiers. Today it is still worn to purify the blood and protect against blood disorders.

Tiger's eye
TIGER'S EYE (stone of concentration and courage)
Deposits: The world's largest deposit is in South Africa. There are also rich deposits in Australia, Brazil, India, the USA, Ukraine and Sri Lanka.
Description: It belongs to the large quartz group and is a variety of chalcedony. It is yellow-brown with a golden sheen due to asbestos fibres. Its colours are arranged in bands, giving it the look of a tiger's eye – hence the name.
Applications: According to the Indians, this semi-precious stone sharpens intuition, calms anger, brings luck and cures unfounded jealousy. It is the stone of highly emotional people who tend to adapt to the world around them. As a talisman, tiger's eye helps its owner show wisdom and flexibility. It not only reads the situation well but also allows its owner to adapt in the best possible way to changes around them and in the mood of others. With tiger's eye, its owner always finds the best (or rather, the least conflicting) way out of any situation. It brings women luck and success in household matters and raising children, and protects business people from the cunning of competitors, allowing them to navigate situations with the greatest possible material benefit.

Azurite
AZURITE (stone of the third eye)

Azurite also balances the other chakras – it is one of the few stones that align all 7 chakras. Azurite is an excellent stone for meditation, allowing you to enter a meditative state easily. It also enhances the ability to foresee events. Azurite can help control the flow of energy, delivering as much as each situation requires, and increases creativity, inspiration and intuition.
Planet: Venus Zodiac sign: This is the stone of Capricorn. It strengthens its insight and sense of justice.

Pearl
PEARL – Stone of purity, innocence and faith
Deposits: Pearls are found all over the world, but mainly in India, Sri Lanka, Tahiti, Iran and the Red Sea.
Description: Pearls come from the animal kingdom of the sea, but are classed as gemstones. Their name comes from the Latin “pernula” – seashell. A pearl forms when a grain of sand or another tiny particle accidentally enters a mollusc and irritates it. If the mollusc cannot expel the foreign body, it begins to secrete a special substance called nacre (mother-of-pearl) to coat it.
Applications: Mainly in jewellery. A pearl necklace was worn 4,000 years ago by the Achaemenid queen of Persia, and the pearl jewellery of the Queen of Sheba became legendary. Written records show that Cleopatra served wine with pearls in it to her most important guests, and the Bible says that wisdom is worth more than pearls. Pearls enhance honesty and loyalty. They bring calm to the wearer and attune them to the ebb and flow of life. They bring purity to mind and soul, encouraging faith, love and integrity. Because of their associations with water and the moon, pearls balance the emotions, especially of the water signs. They help you connect with the Earth Goddess and her absolute feminine energy. Pearls can absorb energy from people and nature and should therefore be used with care: if you feel unwell, it is better to take them off, as they will absorb and retain all your negative energy. Used wisely and correctly, pearls reduce stress and relieve conditions such as hypertension, headaches and exhaustion. Pearls should be washed and energetically cleansed often, ideally by placing them in sea salt for 24 hours.
Celestial body: The Moon Zodiac sign: White pearls are most suitable for Cancer and Pisces, and black pearls for Capricorn.

Garnet
GARNET (stone of courage, love and friendship)
Deposits: In Russia garnets are mined in Yakutia and Chukotka; green garnets have been found in the Urals. Garnet deposits are also known in Australia, Austria, Argentina, Brazil, Zambia, India, Madagascar, Mexico, Norway, the USA, Sri Lanka and South Africa.
Description: Garnets are a group of minerals that differ in composition but have a similar chemical formula and the same crystal shape. Transparent, clear and richly coloured garnets are sought-after gemstones. The name comes from the Latin “granatus”, the word for pomegranate seeds. Garnet colours include purplish red – almandine; colourless or yellow-green – grossular; brown or black – melanite; green – uvarovite; red – pyrope and andradite. Demantoid, a variety of andradite, is the most expensive and rarest garnet.
Uses: Garnets have a positive effect on digestion, breathing, circulation and the immune system. Garnet necklaces are believed to help with fever, sore throat and persistent headaches. Garnet cleanses the body, helps regenerate damaged organs and tissues and stimulates the pituitary gland. It is recommended as a stimulant for heart activity. Depending on its colour, garnet can affect a number of conditions: red garnet– heals the endocrine system and digestion; green garnet– the endocrine system, nerves, blood and lymph circulation; white garnet – the mucous membranes; normalises bowel movements and balances the secretion of stomach acid and the salivary glands; yellow and brown garnets – have a healing effect on skin diseases, poor digestion, constipation and allergies. Garnets were believed to give pregnant women a safe and easy birth.
Celestial body: The Moon Zodiac sign: Recommended for Capricorn. Taurus and Pisces should avoid red garnet. The green shade is recommended for Aquarius.

Amber
AMBER – Stone of happiness
Deposits: The two main sources of amber today are the Baltic republics and the Dominican Republic. Baltic amber is older and is therefore preferred by most traders; Dominican amber often contains insects. Amber prices range from $20 to $40,000 or more.
Description: Amber has the colour of the sun: yellow in direct daylight and orange in the evening.
Applications: Amber is a fossil and is therefore associated with time, cycles and longevity. Since it was once a living thing, it is linked to “Akasha” – what is usually called the “fifth element”, which unites and governs air, earth, fire and water. Akasha is a symbol of life and living beings, including people. All these mysterious properties have made amber one of the most used and valued magical stones through the ages. Yellow, golden and orange amber can enhance the wearer's beauty. It is also worn for success, abundance, healing, vitality and joy. Amber carries the energy of patience, romantic love and sensuality, and it is believed that whoever wears it will have a successful marriage.
Celestial body: The Sun Zodiac sign: Leo, Gemini, Virgo
